FKEC Opens Lobbies to the Public; Please Only Visit if Necessary

Florida Keys Electric Cooperative reopened its Tavernier and Marathon office lobbies to the public on May 18. While we miss our members, at this time we still ask that you only visit a co-op office if absolutely necessary. For everyone’s health-safety, we encourage you to conduct FKEC business online at www.FKEC.com or by phone at (305) 852-2431.

Also, if you have been exposed to COVID-19 or have any symptoms, please do not enter an FKEC building.

In response to the Coronavirus epidemic, FKEC closed its Tavernier and Marathon customer service offices on March 23. At that time, the utility, which serves the Upper and Middle Keys, also suspended in-person services with customers in the field, and began rotating department staff to reduce the number of employees at each facility. Following county, state, and federal guidelines the utility is cautiously resuming regular work, but implementing many new, health-safe work practices.

Should you need to visit an FKEC office, you will see signs outlining the rules to follow inside the lobby. For now, our Tavernier office will have a maximum occupancy of three members, and the smaller lobby in Marathon will allow two. Hand sanitizing stations are located by the door, and we ask that you practice social distancing, keeping six feet away from anyone when possible, and wear a mask.

FKEC offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A drive-through is available at both offices.

FKEC appreciates our members for adapting and supporting your cooperative as we change the way we do business. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and follow all appropriate guidelines to keep our members and employees safe.
