Insulator Upgrade May Impact Traffic On Card Sound Road/CR-905

Florida Keys Electric Cooperative is upgrading transmission insulators in our service territory along Card Sound Road and County Road 905 starting February 5, 2024, and lasting approximately eight weeks. In some cases, a lane shift or closure may be required to allow the necessary, safe distance to work on the energized 138,000-volt transmission equipment.

FKEC contractor Michels Corporation will do their best to avoid interfering with traffic, but when necessary, crews will work to minimize impact on drivers as much as possible. Work along Card Sound Road and CR-905 will occur Monday through Thursday from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the exact location will vary daily. Please drive safely around any roadside.

Upgrading the transmission insulators is vital to maintaining a storm-hardened, reliable electric system. FKEC appreciates your patience while we complete this project. If you have questions or concerns, call 305-852-2431. Online services are also available at www.FKEC.com.
