Tree Trimming will Require a Single Lane Closure in Tavernier

On May 26, Florida Keys Electric Co-op vegetation contractor Asplundh will be trimming vegetation around the transmission lines along US 1 in Tavernier. The work will be from the Tavernier Creek Bridge north to Ocean Boulevard (across from McDonalds), and require a single lane closure northbound to allow safe access to the lines.

Trees growing under or near power lines are the most common cause of power outages. To ensure reliable and safe power service, FKEC implements a comprehensive vegetation management program. The co-op’s specially trained Tree Crews use pruning techniques and arborist cuts to maintain a tree’s health and encourage growth away from lines.

Please use caution around all roadside work, and when driving keep your eyes on the highway and not the linework overhead. FKEC appreciates your patience while we provide proper line clearance to maintain our 99.99% reliability.
